Walk Among the Alpacas at Lake Corpus Christi, Tx

We’ll greet you at the main parking lot as soon as you arrive. The Livestock Guardian Dogs will usually beat us out the gate. Don’t be alarmed! They’re quite large but very people friendly. After a brief introduction we introduce you to our alpaca boys! They are quite inquisitive and will come up the fence to greet you. Many days a group of our turkeys will be out for a stroll. They can be quite entertaining! Across the road from the alpacas are our sheep pens. Learn about rare this breed and why we choose to raise them. Next we will move to the chicken coops, where we collect our own eggs. Then meet Ginger and Spice our very naughty, very spoiled miniature horses and feed them some treats. We’ll take you into one of the most important places on our farm, The Shearing Shed, and show you how we shear and collect their fleeces for processing into yarn. On the way to meet our girls (alpacas), you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk around our Airbnb cabins as well as taking in the views of the surrounding countryside. When available we can give you a sneak peak inside one. Step into our shop for some light refreshments and to see and feel the products made with our animals fiber. There are unique gift items and yarn available to purchase as well as souvenirs. Sit back and relax on the patio as a perfect end of your visit. Other things to note Pets are not allowed. Sorry but our Livestock Guardian Dogs will not tolerate other dogs to be anywhere near the paddocks and pastures. There are many obstacles along the paths we use. If you have any disability please advise us in advance so that we may arrange suitable accommodations.

Private beer brewing class at a local brewery

Have you always thought about brewing your own beer? Don't know where to start? In this private class, we will teach you everything you need to know to get started. What ingredients go into beer, what equipment you will need and what it is used for, and the step by step process you'll follow to brew your first batch of beer. Guests will also be able to sample beer during the class. Most dates and times can be accommodated with enough advanced notice. Contact host to request.

Nature discovery tour with sustainability focus

Once guests arrive and checkin with the tour guide, they will be required to participate in a 10 minute light stretch before embarking on the nature tour. On the tour the guests will be guided through the campground and we will identify different types of trees, edible plants, animals, streams and other landmarks on the property. The team will share the unique history of how we came to be caretakers of the land and share some ceremonial pottery, tools, and special rocks and crystals we’ve found on the land. We will learn about the different trees on the property as well as their fruits and uses.

Stargazing in an enchanted forest

During this experience we will gathering with the group around a campfire then take a small hike to a darker area of the campground and learn about the milky way and stars not far from the Great Continental Divide. Once we arrive at our designated open area we will get comfortable looking at the sky and help our guests identify different constellations.

A hands on beer brewing class

Our location is unique in that we have a small brewery located within a home brew supply store. Guests will get to learn everything they need to start brewing beer on their own in a hands on class. We will cover the basic ingredients, the equipment required, and the step by step process of brewing a batch of beer. Guests will be able to see how beer is brewed on a small(homebrewer) scale, and at the same time see how a professional brewery does it. Guests will also be able to sample beer during the class.

QUIRKY BURQUE Scavenger Hunt

It all begins at a scenic spot that's a local favorite. We will get our missions and go over instructions/ground rules for the game. After a warm-up to prepare for this true sport, teams will take off to experience a wide variety of carefully curated locations throughout town. You'll drive in your car (special carless version available on request) to the various checkpoints, solving clues and accepting challenges that involve getting outside your comfort zone at each spot! Both family and dog friendly, the game alternates between the indoors and outdoors with plenty of alternative spots and free choices too! You'll send photos to your host to document your progress. You can even interact with locals to solve clues! You won’t be able to avoid having fun, uncovering hidden gems and local secrets, making memories, laughing and learning along the way! You’ll be part of the rich culture of this dynamic city! Every turn is full of surprises, so questions in advance are welcomed! Exploring the hidden valley of the Rio Grande

The mighty Rio Grande is one of the most important rivers in the Southwestern United States. It is home to a lush ecosystem of wildlife and has an illustrious history dating back thousands of years. On this multifaceted river walk, away from the tourist traps of the city, we’ll observe the lush wildlife from the looming Cottonwoods, to the elegant Sandhill Cranes; we’ll get an up close and personal look at the 400-year old acequia canals that fuel the agriculture of New Mexico; and we’ll pass by a few historical markers off the beaten path to learn some hidden history of Albuquerque.

Magical Old Town, Past and Present

Our exploration of the Old Town Plaza will begin with coffee, tea and biscochitos on the balcony of our home, looking out over the original town square and historic San Felipe Church. We will overlook history as well, and gaze back from the Tewa people on who’s land Old Town was built, to life on the plaza during the Spanish, Mexican and American colonial periods. Next we will undertake a walking tour of the plaza with a focus on the old adobe architecture and the stories associated with the buildings and smaller placitas that make up Old Town, using historical photos and visuals to support the information. This stroll will include secrets and lore unknown even to most Albuquerque residents, interaction with some of the "old timers" that live and work here, and pointers what to see and do and where to eat, tailored to the needs and interests of each group. Old Town is a valuable community resource and there are frequent impromptu happenings- quinceaneras, vintage car parades, etc. The tour will embrace these spontaneous events as they occur making the visit to Old Town even more vibrant and personal. Finally, at the end of the tour experience, participants have the option of being served lunch at La Placita Dining Room in the Manuel Armijo House, one of the oldest structures on the Plaza, built in 1706.
